Hi! I´m Andrea, I´m 16 years old and I have been in the U.K. for 2 weeks.
I came here because I wanted to learn English and my parents wanted that too, but I couldn’t imagine that it was going to be as fantastic as it was! Well I have gone to English Families for two years, but I have to say that this year has been the best! Before I came here I was a little bit afraid because I had to take the plane alone and I had never done that!!, but when I arrived Kath was waiting for me and it was easier than I imagined.
I really recommend staying with an English Family with the organization Living Learning English.
I really had a great time here!
Yesterday me and my host family went to London. I had never seen London, so I was very nervous. We had to wake up at 5:00 a.m! It was horrible! and at 5:30 we left the house. We went by car, and it took three and a half hours to get to London. Gareth had to work in the most important internet building so Kath and I went to visit London. First we went to Tower Bridge , it was very beautiful, and very big, most of the people that were there were tourists taking photos, like us. Then we took the bus and we spent two hours seeing London by tour bus, we had a lot of things to see..! We were very lucky because the weather was fantastic, very sunny. We saw more things than I could have imagined. Then we decided to get off the bus at Marble Arch which was at the end of Oxford Street. We visited all the streets, Oxford Sreet where most of the teen shops were, then at 2:30 p.m we stopped to have lunch because we were very hungry!, in a Italian restaurant behind Regent Street, and we ate spaghetti carbonara. After lunch we went to Regent Street, and we went into the biggest toy store in the world: HAMLEYS, it was impressive, I had a lot of fun inside. Then I had to find Abercrombie & Fitch because my friends had told me that it was really cool, so we went there. And it was true, it was fantastic. After that we went to Piccadilly Circus where all the adverts and Eros´statue were. We went to Leicester Square, because I wanted to see the M&M´s Store. It was quite nice, and full of people. Then we visited China Town, but I have to say that it was the least beautiful street. We went to Trafalgar Square and Whitehall to see Big Ben. It was really good, and I think that you have to see it in person, because you can know how it is in photos, on the internet etc, but in person it´s different. It was great! 🙂 Then we went to Westminister Bridge to see the London Eye. We turned back to Whitehall. We took a taxi that brought us to Buckingham Palace, there, we took the Tour Bus and we stopped at Harrods and I bought a little bag. And this was our route in London. After this Gareth picked up us by car. We stopped at 10:30 p.m to have dinner, and after that we got back in the car and came home.
Really, I love London, it´s a great place to visit and there is only one city like this one, but also I think that there are too many people, the streets are full of people and you can´t walk.
We arrived home at 1:00 a.m. Today I woke up at 12:30!; we have had our English breakfast at 1:30!
ENJOY MY TRIP! 🙂
1 packet of custard powder
1 bar of dark chocolate
3/4 pat of butter
1 1/2 pack of small square tea biscuits
1/2 lt milk
8 dessertspoonfuls of sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1. Mix 1/2 cup of milk with the custard powder in a bowl.
2. Pour rest of milk into a saucepan and add the sugar and cinnamon. When it begins to boil, add the custard mix, stirring continuously for 5 minutes until it comes back to the boil. Remove saucepan from the heat and leave to cool.
3. Break the chocolate bar into small pieces and cut up the butter and mix together in a glass bowl. Microwave until it melts together.
Using a deep baking tray (or lasagne dish) layer the ingredients as follows:
– Dip biscuits in coffee and line the bottom of the tray
– pour half the custard over biscuits and spread evenly.
– Add another layer of biscuits (again dipping them in coffee first)
– pour half the chocolate mix over these and spread evenly
– Add another layer of biscuits, custard, biscuits and chocolate.
– leave to set.
ENJOY ! 🙂
Sandy and Danny met, and they fell in love in the summer time, but when the summer finished he went to his high school and, although she was supposed to move, her parents decided to stay this year in California where he was. The first day of high school she discovered that this school was the high school of Danny too, and they met again. He was very popular and cool, and he didn´t want anybody to know that he had fallen in love with her, so he was cooler to her, he wasn´t the guy who Sandy met in summer. All the musical they are having arguments, and all the story is about if they should be together or not.
Is Danny good for Sandy?
Is Sandy good for Danny?
MY OPINION :
In my opinion the musical was really good. All the actors have worked a lot in their dances, how to express their feelings and singing.
The clothes that they were wearing were really characteristic of the 5o´s , and it was as if you were in the 5o´s. The story was very beautiful, and emotional, and their songs were the best! All the people in the audience knew the songs so we were clapping, dancing and singing, it was really fun. In my opinion the best part of the musical was when the guys appeared shining and the car too.
The music was fantastic, and they made me laugh a lot ! 🙂
I always imagine London to be a great place to go shopping and to see monuments. Well, I want to see Tower Bridge, for example, because it appears in a lot of films, and I want to say: I HAVE BEEN THERE!! Some people say that Big Ben is incredible but other people say that it is not as incredible as most people say, so I want to see for myself. Some friends that went to London last summer said to me that I have to go to the Abercrombie shop, because it is very very big and impressive so I want to go there because I want to give them my opinion about the shop. Well I´m sure that it´ll be fantastic because I love this type of shop, like Hollister.
I know that London is not a place where you can live peacefully, because there are a lot of people and it´s a very noisy city, but I hope that London will impress me with her shops and restaurants and monuments.
Well, I want to take a lot of photos and show people that I have been there. I don´t want to buy a lot of things because I know that it´s very expensive but I want to go into all the shops and visit as many monuments as we can.
Yesterday I went to Cardiff. Well if I had to choose where I have to live, if in Cardiff or in Denia, I will choose Denia, but only for one thing, THE WEATHER! Here it is summer and it is like winter in Denia! I don´t want to imagine what it´s like in winter here… 😦 But I have to say that Cardiff is bigger than Denia, I know that a lot of tourists visit our town, but I think that Cardiff is impressive! I love the houses that you can see here, they are totally different!! And, what about the shops? :0 Here you have a lot of shops to choose where I want to buy my clothes, the best is that they are all in the same street, and you don´t have to walk far.
The public transport here is so good, you have buses or trains at all times, but public transport in Denia doesn´t exist! Well, yes it exists but nobody uses it.
Whatever. Denia is my town, where I live and I love it, and it has also a lot of good things like, for example, the food there is fantastic!, it´s really hot, and you can go to the beach when you want! Finally, I would choose DENIA! 😀
Las Sunday I arrived in Wales. I had to take a plane alone, and I was a little bit afraid, but on the plane there were a lot of British people and they helped me a lot. First I was sitting nexto to some old British people on the plane, and they were talking to me about England, so they made me feel easier about the trip to Bristol, and Secondly, when I got off the plane, another British couple helped me to find my suitcase, so my first impression of Brisith people is that they are very nice and friendly! 😀
But when I went outside the airport, the weather was wet and cold, and all was very different to Spain. And I thought that I was going to be a great experience here. And now here I am !! Spending a really nice time with my host family!!
